Rhymes With Opera's popular Salon series features performances from NYC area musicians and ensembles. In this edition of the Salon, RWO welcomes Anna Roberts-Gevalt (multi-instrumentalist and composer), Matthew Sullivan (composer), Max Duykers (composer) and Zen Wu (soprano). This Salon will also feature excerpts from The Impossible She (music by Daniel Thomas Davis) performed by RWO ensemble members Elisabeth Halliday and Robert Maril. Rhymes With Opera will premiere this new work in May 2019.

It’s also a fun potluck! Bring a favorite dish to share and meet some new music!

Rhymes With Opera is excited to again be part of the New York Opera Fest, a monthlong celebration of local opera in New York City, supported and organized by the New York Opera Alliance.

For this festival opening event, RWO ensemble members Robert Maril (baritone) and Christopher Wilson (piano) will be performing excerpts from Daniel Thomas Davis’s The Impossible She.

Rhymes With Opera presents the world premiere of Daniel Thomas Davis’s new opera The Impossible She. This new opera focuses on the life of Eleanor Roosevelt, juxtaposing aspects of the first lady’s personal relationships with her political persona as experienced by a fictitious radio-listener.

In addition to this one-act opera, Rhymes With Opera will also present the world premiere of Colin Read’s On Loneliness and Solitude. Both Read’s and Davis’s works were commissioned by Rhymes With Opera.
