Submission Guidelines

If you would like to propose a new work to be considered by Rhymes With Opera, we encourage you to tell us more about your idea by submitting a proposal to us.

There is no deadline for submission, as this is not a competition. Rhymes With Opera reviews all previously submitted proposals roughly once a year, and will program and commission works according to our interests and what we can do really well for a given season.

As you put together your proposal, please take a look at our previous programming (available right here on our website!) to get an idea of who we are, the kinds of work we have done before, and what might interest you about our company. Maybe you would like to create something similar to our repertoire, or maybe you have an existing work that fits our personality, or perhaps you would like to propose something completely different. We are interested in collecting ideas – not rejecting them. If you have an idea that you would like RWO to consider, please let us know!

To submit your proposal, please prepare the following information:

• 1. Your name, e-mail, and phone number;
• 2. Forces required for your proposal. You may choose either:
  - The RWO ensemble (5 singer-instrumentalists*, or a subset thereof), or
  - The RWO singing ensemble (3 singers*, or a subset thereof), with a maximum of 8 additional instrumentalists and/or singers**;
  (Works with electronics are welcome, as are works without.)
• 3. Duration;
• 4. Written proposal (500-word limit).

** if your proposal exceeds this limit, please tell us more about why you need the specific forces that the work requires; this should be a part of your written proposal.

The RWO Ensemble includes:

- Soprano, doubling simple percussion
- Soprano, doubling violin
- Baritone, doubling cello, guitar, keyboard (using doubling instruments minimally)
- Violin, doubling keyboard
- Violin, doubling viola, accordion

The RWO Singing Ensemble includes:

- 2 Sopranos
- Baritone
